Meet IIAM Chairman John Morgan Mims
John Morgan Mims’ journey to leadership is a story of commitment, service, and family legacy in the insurance industry.
Background: A Vicksburg native, John graduated from Ole Miss, where he also played baseball, before moving to Meridian in 2007 to begin his career. In 2019, he purchased the agency where he started, which has since grown to offices in Meridian, Brandon, Vicksburg, Ocean Springs, and Birmingham.
Industry Involvement: His Big I journey began with young agent events that fostered lifelong relationships. He went on to serve as Young Agents Chairman and on the Executive Committee before stepping into his new role as Chairman.
Vision as Chairman: John Morgan is committed to helping agencies of all sizes embrace new tools like artificial intelligence, balance automation with personal service, and continue to modernize and grow the association.
On Leadership & Family: For John Morgan, Big I Mississippi is more than business, it’s a family. He credits the association for standing by his own family during the most difficult year of their lives, when his son was undergoing cancer treatment. That spirit of community fuels his dedication to serve.

Proud Ole Miss Rebel a three-generation athlete (grandfather, father, and himself all played sports for the Rebels).
Passionate about hunting, skiing, and traveling with his family.
Advice to his 25-year-old self: “Life is all about perspective… invest early and often, and focus on building relationships.”
